Friday Flicks: Live Free or Die Favre

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

(Friday Flicks is a weekly feature in which I ask: What if NFL stars or other athletes starred in this week’s biggest release or in past classics? Plus, I’ll let you know what you should see, and what you should avoid like Ron Mexico’s sloppy seconds.) Bruce Willis (actor)/John McClane (fictional badass protagonist) – He’s lost almost all of his hair, and pundits say he’s past his prime. Bruce just couldn’t let go of his favorite role, though, after the way the third installment of the Die Hard franchise flopped — critically ( a piss-poor 47% culmative critic’s score over [...]

NFL Jonesin’: Truthful Tank

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Been busy as hell with our main site launch (Fan-Sided Blogs — fansided.com), so this one is going to be a quickie… Tank, you know I love you – you don’t have to lie to kick it. This guy can’t stop, won’t stop. Unreal. My boys 7 and Banky ramble on about The Namesake (Pacman), one of his stooges (Tank), my favorite squad (The Chiefs) and my least favorite one (The Donks). Klosterman and Simmons ain’t got shit on these two. If you missed the first exchange about John Elway’s boy Jack, click here as well. For all of you [...]

Why my NBA Draft night Stanko

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

There isn’t much that’s less enjoyable these days than being an Indiana Pacers fan. I mean, this guy and this guy, not to mention sick boy, really hung us out to dry. Then we trade for a guy with tats like this (just look at the bottom right one). Anyway, one thing that is worse — being a Pacers fan that’s not also a Colts fan. You see, growing up in Missouri I had my Kansas City Chiefs (who the Colts have knocked out of the playoffs twice in a row) and Royals, but no basketball team (unless you count [...]

Fantasy Smorgasbord: Intro, The Dirty Dozen, etc.

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

A brief history lesson is needed before I move on to the first installment of this feature… My brother’s league — The Dirty Dozen — is probably the craziest fantasy football league around. We have a cop and an ex-felon who absolutely hate each other. We have two guys who are so crazy they’d probably get kicked off of Eminem’s tour bus. We have a bitter father-sons triangle-of-hatred rivalry. We have more shit talking on our message boards than Joey Porter’s pre-game ritual. We think one guy, The Mick, actually hires a bunch of keyboard-proficient chimps to draft for him. [...]

NFL Jonesin’

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Before I get started, I want to take a second to welcome all of the visitors who have wandered over here from our other sites. Welcome to Pacman Jonesin’! Register and make sure to come back as I update often. Most of all — enjoy! The NBA Draft is today, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis is projected to be a first-round pick. He even has his own blog. Does anyone else think that a 6-foot-9 guy that once weighed 360 pounds might have picked the wrong sport? I’m thinking NFL offensive tackle all the way. Maybe he’ll think so to [...]

Al Harris and his little friend

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Found this over on Kissing Suzy Kolber. It was submitted by Chicago Bears fan Muffmaster C, whoever the hell that is… We polish off a few more rounds and we hear people saying something about Al Harris. Simultaneously we all realized that Douchey McRaggae was none other than the aforementioned Packers cornerback. Relatively shitfaced, we wrap at the bar and take one last parting shot as we walk out the door, “Harris, you get beat more than a red-headed step child.” And as we walk by the floor-to-ceiling window in front of the bar we hear a knocking sound and [...]

P.J.’s 2008 NFL First-Round Mock

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have no idea where teams will finish, so… well, I do have some idea. I know that the Bears, Colts and Pats will pick late, and I know that the Browns, Cards and Lions (10-plus wins my ass) will pick early. Other than that, I have no ‘effin clue, so I just numbered this baby 1-32 and drafted the best player available at each spot. Here’s my best first shot at a ridiculously early, but passable, 2008 NFL Mock Draft… 1. RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas 2. QB Brian Brohm, Louisville 3. OT Jake Long, Michigan 4. DT Glenn Dorsey, [...]

Mad Respeck

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Right now I’ve got Mad Respeck for… ESPN’s Chad Ford for more than holding his own against The Sports Guy in today’s live “2007 Interactive NBA Mock Draft.” I really enjoy Bill Simmons, always have, but the sports blogoshere basically throws rose pedals in front of his every word. Chad Ford won that exchange today, and that format totally catered to Simmons and his strengths. In Simmons’ defense, he’s The Sports Guy; Ford only covers hoops. Still, Ford is the man, and he’s also a Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. What’s not to like? UFC fighter B.J. Penn for [...]
