What The Eff is With the Green Sticker

Posted by: Zach

Green DotDuring tonight’s Seattle Seahawks at San Diego Chargers game, the pillar of football knowledge that is John Madden gave us the scoop on those green dot stickers that have popped up on the back of quarterback’s helmets this preseason. Apparently, the stickers identify the helmet with the only communication device on the field. Is this really necessary? Didn’t everybody already know that all on-field QBs always have radios in their helmets? What’s next, a red dot on the ball in play so people don’t get confused?

Anyway, my brother and I were dying to know what the point behind these stickers were, and our suspicions were right — radios. At first, we thought it might be a tribute or something. Nope. Sorry to disappoint everybody, but the story here is that there’s really no story at all.

I read someplace where this is to keep teams from having two players on the field at once with a radio.  Cause last year the Falcons ran some plays with Vick and Schaub both in at the same time and somebody bitched that if they were both using radioed QB helmets, that was an unfair advantage.  Sounds like typical NFL nitpicking crap to me.  I also read that they want to let at least one defensive player have a radio too.  And some fool wants all the players to have radios.  I think they should also have little TVs in the palms of their gloves so they can watch porn should they get horny in the middle of a game.

I think they should have the rattle function that the X-Box controllers have inside their helmets. Might make the game more realistic.

You're right, though — this is definitely nitpicky B.S.
