He’s Back. But Why?
The Dallas Cowboys are a lucky football team. Not only have they gotten Tony Romo the Bum-Helper back from injury, but they’ve also learned that Pacman Jones, who’s been suspended much of the season, will be reinstated for their December 7th tilt against the Steelers. What better time to drop such a bomb on the NFL than Pearl Harbor Day? (Dear Donovan: Pearl Harbor was this Naval base in Hawaii that the Japanese bombed. Ask Bill Parcells about it some time. He’s a big expert on Japanese military tactics.).
Actually, the only bomb I see here is Pacman himself. His entire career has been one. Why the Cowboys would even wish to be associated with such a disaster is beyond me. Maybe Jerry Jones would also like to buy some GM stock? Or become Lindsay Lohan’s new manager? He seems to have a fondness for hopeless reclamation projects. And plastic surgery. But that’s a little O/T. We were talking about Pacman’s reinstatement. I’d like to ask Roger Goodell just one question about it: Why?
Why even bother with this numbnuts anymore? Why not just tell him to take a walk? Does the league need him? Has someone in the NFL PR department decided that all the Pacman Jonesin’ in the media is somehow constructive? It’s not. It’s just a farce now. And the NFL and the Cowboys all look foolish for participating in it. They should take a hint from the whole Titans situation. Tennessee was middle-of-the-road at best with Pacman and during his whole original suspension for whatever the hell it was he did in the first place. And then they got rid of him and haven’t lost a single game since.
Jerry? Are you listening? Dump Pacman. Take the karma points. You might even have a chance at catching the Giants. Okay, that’s not going to happen - but you can still go, like, 11-5 and make the playoffs. Then all you have to do is ban Jessica from the stadium, make sure Tony isn’t your holder for place-kicks, get T.O. some really strong meds and…Super Bowl, homeboy (or NFC Championship Game, at least).
