Favre Takes the High Road

Posted by: danzinski

Brett Favre caught a lot of flack from some of his Jets teammates, including Thomas Jones, who ripped the future Hall of Famer for almost single-handedly destroying the team’s playoff chances down the stretch.  But of course Brett is far too big a man to come back at Jones and the others who have dissed him in the wake of his disappointing performance.  “The bottom line is I didn’t play well in the final five games,” blubbered Favre in an interview with the Biloxi Sun Herald. “It starts with me and it should. I am not ripping Thomas because that is not my nature. My expectations of myself are high and the only one that I let down was myself.”

The only one you let down was yourself?  Really?  You don’t think you let down Eric Mangini who lost his job because of you (though luckily he’s landed on his feet in Cleveland)?  You don’t think you let down the fans who all thought you were going to ride in on a white horse to save the franchise and instead left it in even more disarray than when you arrived?

Do us all a favor Brett – retire.  Now.  No long, drawn-out will-he-or-won’t-he drama.  No shopping around for a job in Minnesota or Chicago or some other place that would give you a chance to reap your revenge against the Packers.  Just quit.  We’re sick of your self-pity and your sniveling and the rest of your routine.  And, evidently, so are the people you play with.

Now he's going to "take a few weeks" to make his retirement decision, so that he can feed his ego by contantly being in the news and getting sucked off by the media. Of course, the Jets can't make any significant moves until he decides, but it's not like Favre cares about that… he's on his farm in Mississippi with his family in his wranglers, trying to see if he still loves the game enough to put his legendary self through another season.
