Grandstanding Sheriff Threatens Phelps
The sheriff of Richland County, South Carolina, one Leon Lott (not Lett), has threatened to bring criminal charges against Michael Phelps, if it can be determined that Phelps did in fact use marijuana inside Lott’s jurisdiction. “This case is no different than any other case,” explained Lott. “This one might be a lot easier since we have photographs of someone using drugs and a partial confession. It’s a relatively easy case once we can determine where the crime occurred.” Phelps supposedly smoked the pot at a party on the campus of the University of South Carolina which is located in Columbia, SC, which is in fact inside Richland County. Were Phelps to actually be charged, he would face up to 30 days in jail or a $570 fine. It’s interesting to note that neither the Columbia Police nor the university cops have any interest in pursuing charges against Phelps – it’s just this one sheriff. I guess he thinks bringing down a national hero, who has already shown plenty of grace and humility in the face of his troubles, would help him the next time he comes up for re-election. I think he’s just a headline-grabbing putz who probably has a whole closet full of skull-bongs and goes on vacations to Thailand so he can have sex with underage slave girls (I don’t have any proof of course…just suspicions).

February 4th, 2009 at 3:09 amIt is A shame that this over reacting sheriff wants to waste time and resources on such a petty thing. With all the things going on in the country its hard to believe Im seeing this story. what law enforcement officer is going to stand up and protect Americans from all the criminal politicians and CEO's that are robbing us blind right under our noses. legalizing marijuana would reduce overcrowding and could become A profit making avenue for America. people should really educate themselves about why pot is illegal to start with. As long as Alcohol is legal and pot is not I will never believe its for the good of the people.
February 4th, 2009 at 3:30 amHello its pot dont you think there are more important things to worry about. come on people God grew it first should we press charges
February 4th, 2009 at 3:37 amThe sheriff is obviously a grand-standing a-hole, but also must be an absolute IDIOT. What kind of ‘evidence’ does he think he can bring to bear?? Leon, try reading the Bill of Rights, dumbass!
