Jon Kitna: God is My Defender
Nobody better mess with Jon Kitna…cause if you do, you will also be messing with God. And possibly Jesus and a few angels as well. But mostly God.
Well, who in their right mind would want to screw with a guy when that guy has God sticking up for him (like the kid I used to pay five bucks to kick the asses of bullies who tried to steal the banana flip out of my lunchbox)? The Lions, that’s who. At least according to Kitna, who told Sporting News Radio’s The Monty Show:
It was real difficult [last year in Detroit] but there was a lot of stuff that was going on behind closed doors and out of the public’s eyes that was just real difficult. … A difficult situation that you would have never chosen to go through but you certainly feel you’re better because of it. It was good for my kids to see their dad go through something like that and sometimes when you’re not afraid to say what’s on your mind and approach things like a man, sometimes you have to suffer the consequences of that and certainly that was the case.
Uh…so what did Detroit do exactly? They put Kitna on IR even though he thought he could heal up and play some more. And how did Kitna know he could get well and play again? Because God fixes him when he’s hurt. Like two years ago when he suffered a concussion against the Vikings yet was able to return to the game. “I just definitely feel the hand of God,” Kitna said then. “That’s all it was. You can’t explain it.”
Evidently, God is still on Team Kitna. Said Jon of his decision to not talk publicly (until now) about his issues with Detroit:
I have a lot of faith in Jesus Christ and I just had to let things just settle themselves out and let God be my defender.
Kurt Warner is going to be soooooo jealous.
