The Dallas Cowboys decided that 3 years of Terrell Owens was quite enough, and yesterday released the future Hall of Fame wide receiver. Owens was supposed to be the last piece of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl puzzle, but unfortunately, several of the other pieces turned out to not be exactly what they seemed at first, and instead of a Super Bowl picture the Cowboys ended up with a picture of playoff disappointment and late season chokery. Thankfully for Dallas, they covered themselves last year by acquiring Roy Williams, who can now become the #1 receiver he thinks he is in his mind. The Dallas locker room figures to be a quieter, more harmonious place without Owens there making trouble over Tony Romo and Jason Witten‘s obvious man-love.
The suddenness with which Dallas dumped T.O. is indeed quite stunning, but the really shocking news of the day comes from the land of show-biz: Yesterday, beloved funny-man and sometime overrated dramatic actor Robin Williams checked himself into a Florida hospital with shortness of breath (something I’m surprised doesn’t happen more often when you consider how much effort he puts into making people barely laugh). Doctors recommended a week of rest…then sent in Patch Adams to cheer Williams up; at which point Williams realized how incredibly unfunny the Patch Adams schtick is and issued an apology to the entire human race. Get well soon Robin. Oh, and nanoo nanoo.
