Major League Baseball will reportedly look into allegations by embattled journalist Selena Roberts that Alex Rodriguez gave away pitches to opposing players as a member of the Texas Rangers. Roberts’ sources informed her that A-Rod used to do the pitch tipping in blowouts, signaling to enemy batters from the shortstop position, in hopes that the recipients of his surreptitious assistance would reciprocate and thereby help him pad his stats. Alex Rodriguez: Teammate of the Century?
Rodriguez, who is still battling to come back after hip surgery, will reportedly be called by baseball to discuss a multitude of things he allegedly did, including take steroids in high school and with the Yankees, but probably won’t have to answer accusations that he made clubhouse attendants have a toothbrush ready with toothpaste already on it when he got in from games. Clubhouse attendants are outraged at MLB’s callous disregard for their plight. I sort of understand where A-Rod was coming from with that though. Squeezing toothpaste is hard work, especially after you’ve been out choking in the clutch. Plus, who knows what damage the steroids might’ve done to his finger joints. There are a lot of factors at work here.
