Joe Torre got out of New York just in time to avoid becoming embroiled in the Alex Rodriguez steroids controversy, but unfortunately for Joe, a new juicing scandal has popped up in L.A. where he now resides. And it involves Joe’s best player Manny Ramirez:
Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games for violating its drug policy.
The commissioner’s office didn’t announce the specific violation by Ramirez, who will lose about one-third of his $25 million salary.
Ramirez’s test result was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Scott Boras, Ramirez’s agent, told ESPN’s Peter Gammons that his client did not test positive for steroids, but for a drug that was prescribed by a doctor for a medical condition.
Well, “performance-enhancing” could mean a lot of things after all. Maybe Manny was looking to have one of those 12-hour erections I see so much about on the TV. Maybe his other stick wasn’t measuring up to the one he swings for the Dodgers. Maybe Manny wanted to be a little more Manny than usual. Hopefully the stuff didn’t give him boobs.
