Mark Sanchez GQ Photo Spread: Is Sanchez the New Tom Brady?

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mark Sanchez has yet to take a snap as an NFL quarterback, but already he has a vaguely disturbing spread in GQ magazine.  Clearly, Sanchez is being positioned by the corporate superbrain as the new Tom Brady.  Let’s hope Sanchez is smart enough to stay away from farm animals, unlike Mr. Brady, who still hasn’t lived this one down:

Alex Rodriguez is Hosing Kate Hudson

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Page 6 reports on the latest Hollywood lady to veer within range of Alex Rodriguez: Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez seems to have traded in a vintage Madonna for a late-model Kate Hudson. The blond, Los Angeles-born actress — who met A-Rod at the reopening of the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach last November — was photographed at Friday’s game, cheering on the Bronx Bombers at the new Yankee Stadium. But the real action came later that night at Mustang Grill on Second Avenue. Our source said a bartender at the Southwestern joint at 85th Street “was asking patrons not to [...]

Dear Basketball Studs: The Trick-Shots Are Getting Kinda Old

AUTHOR: | IN: Videos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Shooting young basketball stars doing crazy trick-shots and putting the videos on the Internet has become the newest craze among people who hang around practice with cameras.  But, like with all crazes, this one will eventually run its course, and cease being amusing, and become merely annoying. We become jaded and bored very easily out here in the sportsblogreadingandyoutubewatchingosphere.  “Oh, LeBron James making one from 40 feet behind the basket.  Wake me when he tries a full-court shot while hanging upside-down from a trapeze.  That I might want to watch.” Sorry, but as long as these trick-shots are confined to [...]

Everything’s Fine for Now Video: Terrell Owens Reports to Bills Minicamp

AUTHOR: | IN: Videos, Yakkity Yak | COMMENTS: None Yet

Terrell Owens is doing and saying all the right things as he begins his stint with the Buffalo Bills.  He showed up for voluntary minicamp Monday – mostly, I suspect, because he wanted to get some footage for his reality show – and he spoke to the press about how he just wants to fit in with his new team and learn the offense.  So far he hasn’t yelled at any assistant coaches, called his quarterback a homosexual, or bitched that his quarterback and tight end are in league together against him.  But, like I said, it was only the [...]

Iron Gloves Video: Mets Give One Away to the Dodgers

AUTHOR: | IN: Actual Game Action, Videos | COMMENTS: None Yet

There are many ways to lose a major league baseball game, but having two outfielders miss the same flyball, allowing the winning run to get to third, then having that run score when your first baseman fires a throw to the plate several feet wide of the catcher…well, that’s one of the better ones I’ve heard in awhile.  I guess the Mets just lost their concentration.

James Harrison is Not Going to the White House

AUTHOR: | IN: Jerky Behavior, Yakkity Yak | COMMENTS: None Yet

Steelers linebacker James Harrison has turned down the honor of meeting Barack Obama during the team’s visit to the White House: Linebacker James Harrison has said the trip is no “big deal” and he’ll skip it again after not making the trip following the Steelers’ title in 2006. “If you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don’t win the Super Bowl,” he told Pittsburgh’s WTAE-TV. “So as far as I’m concerned he would have invited Arizona if they had won.” Harrison, a five-year veteran, recorded a career-high 16 sacks during the 2008 season. He agreed to [...]

Steve Nash With Entourage Cast Members. Not the Famous Ones.

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is why Steve Nash should always be filmed from an angle.  If he weren’t a basketball player, he would have a great career as the new Jack Elam. God, George Segal is on Entourage?  He was great in Blume in Love and Loving and all those movies from the ’70s.  Him and Elliott Gould.  Now we get Dane Cook and Ryan Reynolds.  The quality of our lead actors has slipped some. Okay, I worked George Segal, Elliott Gould and Jack Elam into the same post.  My work here is done.
