Randy Johnson May Now Retire in Peace

Randy Johnson won his 300th game Friday, pitching for the Giants, against the pitiful Washington Nationals.  It was a moment of huge significance for Tim Kurkjian – I’m told he jumped up and down and squealed like a girl getting a pony for her birthday – but not many other people, including, evidently, Randy Johnson, who barely cracked a smile as he exited the dugout to receive his ovation from the 10 or 12 miserable-looking souls who hauled themselves to the ballpark on a crappy day so they could tell their grandchildren they were there the time whatshisname did that one important thing, no not Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aaron‘s record, that was another time and you weren’t there because, let’s face it, you’re a loser.

Johnson is now all-but-guaranteed a spot in the Hall of Fame, unless it turns out he took steroids or gambled (shoving cameramen on the sidewalk and killing birds with pitched balls are not enough to keep you out of Cooperstown).
