Svetlana Kuznetsova laid claim to being the best women’s tennis player in the world Saturday by knocking off #1 ranked Dinara Safina in the finals of the French Open. Actually, Kuznetsova did more than knock off Safina – she blew her into next week. Safina was so rattled by the hammering that she double-faulted to hand Kuznetsova match point, then slammed her racket to the clay and walked off to quietly have a nervous breakdown. The champion actually seemed to feel sorry for her vanquished foe and offered no crazy celebratory gesticulations or other triumphant displays. Classy on her part.
