Ryan Leaf is a Wanted Man in Texas

Posted by: danzinski

The good news for Ryan Leaf is that somebody wants him.  The bad news is that it’s the Texas cops:

Former Chargers quarterback Ryan Leaf is wanted by the law in Texas after failing to turn himself in on drug and burglary charges.

A warrant for his arrest was issued May 20. That was the day a grand jury in Randall County, Texas, issued nine indictments against him involving his use of prescription painkiller medication.

“At one point he said he was going to turn himself in. He hasn’t turned himself in yet, and if he gets picked up he’s going to be arrested,” Randall County prosecutor Lacy Miller said. “If he gets picked up out of our jurisdiction, then we will extradite him or use whatever means we have to get him back. Right now he is a wanted individual.”

Leaf could not be reached for comment. A message left for him at his parents’ home was not returned.

At least his parents are willing to cover for him.  Kind of touching in a way.  However, were I Ryan, I would just turn myself in.  Texas cops have been known to taser 72-year-old grandmas pulled over for speeding – I can’t imagine what they’d do to a relatively young wanted fugitive.
