Shaq Tweets: Congratulates Kobe, Tweaks Stan Van Gundy One Last Time
Shaquille O’Neal took to Twitter after his old team the Lakers defeated his other old team the Orlando Magic – who are led by his old coach, Stan Van Gundy, from another of his old teams the Miami Heat – to both congratulate his ex-teammate Kobe Bryant and ex-coach Phil Jackson…and to once again rip Mr. Van Gundy. Shaq tweeted to his former sidekick Mr. Bryant:
Congratualtions kobe, u deserve it. You played great . Enjoy it my man enjoy it. And I know what yur sayin rt now “Shaq how my ass taste “
That last bit of course being a reference to the famous video of Shaq asking Kobe to tell him how his ass tastes (not like chocolate ice cream, I’m guessing).
Shaq was not quite as gracious toward the vanquished Van Gundy, whom he had previously ripped for panicking in the playoffs. The slam came in the midst of what appeared to be a touching congratulatory tweet at Phil Jackson, who now holds the NBA record with 10 titles:
Congrats to you to phil jackson. When the general doesn’t panic the troops don’t panic. You are the greatest now.
Of course Shaq knew we would pick up on his dig. He’s sly that way. Maybe next year, when he’s playing for Cleveland with Pat Riley as his coach again, he will get to face down Phil and Kobe in the finals, after demolishing Van Gundy’s Magic in the conference finals. Or, perhaps he will retire to become a full-time social networking maven/comedian.
