Some of you may remember Mel Hall as a decent slugger with the Yankees back in the early ’90s. Those with good memories for home run trots may recall Hall’s as one of the longest, slowest and most asinine ever witnessed on the planet earth. Aficionados of Jheri Curl may remember Hall’s trend-setting hairstyle. From today on, however, Mel Hall will be remembered for only one thing: being convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl while coaching a youth basketball team.
“A Tarrant County jury took about 90 minutes to convict the 48-year-old Hall on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child,” says the Associated Press. “The sentencing phase was to resume Wednesday after two witnesses testified Tuesday afternoon. Hall faces up to life in prison.
“Hall’s accuser, now 23, testified Monday that Hall engaged in sex acts with her in various places, including her home and Hall’s apartment.”
Even Roman Polanski thinks Hall is a dirtbag. He did sport some awesome Jheri Curl though.
