The Mets have placed Carlos Beltran on the DL with a bruised bone, adding to a roster of injured stars that already includes Jose Reyes and Carlos Delgado.
The bruised bone – described as “aching” and “painful” – first gave Beltran trouble in late May, and has since doubled in size according to his doctor. The bruise, not the bone.
Beltran realizes the trouble his bruised bone represents for the Mets. “It’s difficult because of the situation where we are. I think right now basically David Wright is the only guy that is out there playing every day,” Beltran said. “But at the same time I’m happy that I know what I have and I know that I don’t have to go through surgery. I know that with rest I’ll be back.”
Carlos definitely needs to give his bruised bone a rest, and then the Mets need to take some precautions to make sure this doesn’t happen again. No more porn in his hotel room, for instance.
