It’s Called Giving the Fans What They Want, Chris

Posted by: danzinski

Chris Evert is the latest old school tennis star to publicly slam the modern day ladies players for their loud, orgasmic vocalizations during matches.

“Grunting is one thing but the shrill sound that you hear with players nowadays, and especially they get louder when they hit a winner, that’s the thing that I observe as a player,” Evert said.

“It comes before they hit the shot. That’s the first thing you hear and you are kind of like thrown off-guard as a player and then before you know the ball gets past you.”

So Chris’s assertion is that the “grunting” is actually intended as a distraction.  Fine.  Except, with a player like Maria Sharapova who has been doing it for years, shouldn’t the opponent expect it by now, and therefore be ready for it?

I think Chris and some of her contemporaries, like Martina Navratilova, who has also expressed her disdain for grunting, are just jealous they didn’t get to do it.  They probably feel the same way about Serena’s catsuits.  They wish they were thirty years younger, so they too could sexy up their matches with high-pitched wails and inappropriate attire.

Martina undie-flash?  What could be hotter than that?
