That’s Enough Inspiration for Me, Thanks Very Much Lance

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Lance Armstrong is at it again.  He’s near the lead at the Tour de France, despite being nearly 40, and despite not having participated in the race since 2005. It has been, as always with Lance, an inspiring, Profiles in Courage sort of performance.  You can’t watch Lance pedaling his bike up one of those hills without hearing Chris Connelly‘s voice in the background earnestly informing us that what we’re seeing is extraordinary and unbelievable and greater than anything that has ever been seen anywhere in the history of the world, except for that one time the football player let [...]

Here’s a Chance for Tom Brady to Show He’s a Great Guy

AUTHOR: | IN: Criminal Behavior | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s the story of a man, Tom Brady and Tom Brady’s incredibly expensive planters.  From ESPN.com: A man who unwittingly stole two flower planters worth $8,000 from behind Tom Brady’s Boston condominium said Friday he has to panhandle to pay restitution. Dennis Paiva told the Boston Herald he scours the streets for trash to sell. He said he took the planters from behind a condominium because they were next to the trash and sold them for $450. Police caught him on surveillance video. The 61-year-old convicted bank robber, who got out of prison five years ago after serving a 10-year [...]

The Shine is Coming off LeBron James

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford has become a household name, not for one of the usual reasons – getting embroiled in an academic scandal, say – but for something completely weird and awesome and apparently unprecedented in the history of the world:  dunking on LeBron James. It happened at a skills academy sponsored by Nike and hosted by James, who sometimes goes by the nickname The Chosen One.  Crawford himself described the magical moment: I was on the right wing and I drove down the middle past Danny Green and LeBron was waiting under the rim.  I jumped and I really [...]

Cops Release Dashboard Video of Sahel Kazemi’s DUI Stop

AUTHOR: | IN: Criminal Behavior, Videos | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The morbidly curious will be happy (or at least interested) to note that authorities have released dashboard video of Sahel Kazemi, the late mistress and murderer of the late Steve McNair, getting pulled over for DUI two days before the killing.  The whole thing is so unbelievably sordid.  It should stand as a warning to all pro athletes to be very careful whom they get mixed up with romantically.  Actually, that warning goes for everyone.  Pay less attention to the booty and more attention to the person the booty is attached to.  Otherwise you might end up getting plugged four [...]

Yes Virginia, There is an Andruw Jones

AUTHOR: | IN: Actual Game Action | COMMENTS: None Yet

Andruw Jones is making headlines for something other than his weight.  Wednesday night, the big free agent wash-out of 2008 slammed three homers for the Texas Rangers, leading the team to an 8-1 victory over the Angels. “That’s what Andruw is capable of,” teammate Michael Young raved. “That’s not the first time he’s shown power; he’s been doing it his whole career. There aren’t many guys in the game who have as much natural power as Andruw.” There aren’t many guys who have his appetite for junk food either.  But Andruw has apparently curbed that, and now he’s back closer [...]

Lenny Dykstra Files for Bankruptcy. Evidently He is Not a Financial Genius After All.

AUTHOR: | IN: Fail | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Former baseball star Len Dykstra had been carving a little post-sporting niche for himself as a kind of unlikely financial guru, even writing an investment strategy column for TheStreet.com.  Then a funny thing happened on Lenny’s way to becoming the new Warren Buffet:  he went bankrupt. Officially bankrupt, as in Chapter 11.  A petition filed Tuesday claimed Dykstra has less than $50,000 in assets and between $10 and $50 million in liabilities.  Nope, I don’t think any of those shady debt consolidation outfits that advertise on the radio are going to be able to help Lenny.  If this were Japan [...]

Laura Posada: Not an Ex-Stripper

AUTHOR: | IN: Yakkity Yak | COMMENTS: None Yet

Jorge Posada‘s wife Laura wants you to know that, contrary to what you might’ve heard, not all wives of baseball players are former pole-dancers who only care about soaking rich guys. “People think that just because you’re married to a baseball player, that you’re dumb, that you’re a gold digger, that you’re an ex-stripper,” Laura said. “That’s not the way it is. I still haven’t met that one girl. Most of the girls that I know, that are baseball wives, are super sweet girls. They’re successful in their own right. I really hope that after people see this show, they [...]
