Subway $5 Footlong Faux Tweet Of The Day

Come on…did you really think I was going to let Michael Vick stay in the spotlight & get all the attention?

Brett Favre     August 20th

One week without any radio, televison or internet.  Could you do it?  I just nearly pulled it off and actually enjoyed it.

Sure, at the beginning of the week I was jonesin’ to blog and browse the internet.  However, as the week progressed I barely missed being bomarded with all of the media that has become part of (and in some cases taken over) our day-to-day lives.

After digging myself out of a pile of paperwork at the office late yesterday afternoon, I decided to take thirty minutes to find out what happened in the world while I was living off the grid.  What follows are four things that surprised me and four more things that didn’t surprise me at all…along with a few quick thoughts:

What Surprised Me

Tiger Woods losing at the PGA – Did that really happen?  Y.E. who?  I would have bet 99.98% of my money that Woods holding a lead entering the final round emerges victorious in that tournament.  I give the kid some credit, but Tiger shot a 75 and in my mind that’s a choke.

Scott Boras settling for $15.1 million - So much for San Diego State’s Stephen Strasburg becoming the $50 million man.  I can’t believe Boras swallowed his enormous ego and actually did what was best for his client.

Tom DeLay agreeing to go on Dancing With The Stars- How the mighty have fallen.  What was once one of the top five most powerful people in the country will now be kissing the ass of Len Goodman to get an 8 instead of a 7 for his viennese waltz.

Karl Rove going on The Family Guy- Rush Limbaugh agreeing to do the show I understand, but Rove?  What’s next?  Is Dubya planning to be a contestant on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?  If not, maybe “#43″ will show up on Shark Tank next week.

What Didn’t Surprise Me At All

Raiders head coach Tom Cable punching an assistant coach in the face – Although there hasn’t been a formal admission, Cable’s non-denial speaks for itself.  Here is the current Raiders Formula For Success:   Dysfunction + Turmoil –  Common Sense = Commitment To Excellence

Brett Favre returning to the NFL to play for the Minnesota Vikings- There was never even a doubt in my mind that this would happen.  In fact, I’ve been saying it for months to anyone who would listen.  If there is a bigger attention whore in professional sports than Favre I would love to know who it is.

Amorosa Manigault-Stallworth’s decision to enter the United Theological Seminary – After divorcing Aaron Stallworth in 2005, Amorosa finally came to the conclusion that finding God was the only way to go.  I mean really…what self-respecting guy would ever put his dick within a ten foot radius of that cunt’s cunt?

Milwaukee GM John Hammond making another very questionable move- Carlos Delfino and Roko Ukic?  What the Buck?  What in bloddy hell was the purpose of this trade?  Ukic is an absolute stiff.  At best he’s a 10-12 minute per game bench warmer.  Is Hammond trying to send a message to promising young point guard Ramon Sessions? If so, here is what I’d think if I were Sessions:  My team’s owner and general manager clearly have no desire to win now or build a decent team for the future.  I need to find a way to extricate myself from this abomination of a franchise.
