The Good, Bad & Ugly in Week 6 of the NFL

It has now been about 45 hours and I’m just starting to get over yet another brutal San Diego Chargers loss.  While I could very easily lanuch into a 1000 word rant about the incompetence of Norv Turner, what’s the point?  The Denver Broncos are a much better football team and for all intents and purposes have already won the division.

When Turner decided that he should run his 5′6″ running back into the line on a crucial 3rd & goal in the first quarter (despite a similar play call earlier in the season against the Ravens that proved to be disastrous) I knew things would likely not end well .  To steal a line from the TMQ, at that point I wrote game over in my notebook.    A few other quick observations and musings about Week 6:

The Good

JaMarcus Russell completing 17-28 for 224 yards and a touchdown in a huge victory over the Philadelphia Eagles

Drew Brees and the Saints remaining undefeated by rolling the N.Y. Giants

Tom Brady disecting the defenseless Tennessee Titans for 6 TD’s

The Bad

Antonio Cromartie and the Chargers defense played better, but a non-existent pass rush and shoddy special teams play prevented San Diego from prevailing Monday night

Although the hapless Rams and Bucs looked like they might be able enter the win column late in the 4th quarter of their respective games, both teams managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

The Ugly

Andy Reid getting outcoached by Tom Cable while the Eagles suffered an embarrassing loss to the Raid-ahs.

The winless Titans lost 59-0. Can you spell Q-U-I-T?
