  Faux Twitter Tweet Of The Day With an overall record of 1,107 – 1,160, I’m really surprised that I lasted 14 years as GM of the Padres Ex-GM Kevin Towers       October 3rd   I’m really surprised too, KT.  In fact, here is what I wrote back on May 4th:    There are only four above average players on the entire Padres roster:  Adrian Gonzalez, Jake Peavy, Chris Young and Heath Bell.  That’s it folks.  Everyone else is average, below average, well past his prime or a complete stiff.  Meanwhile, Towers is now the longest tenured general manager in baseball as he ineptly struggles through his fourteenth year [...]

The Home Run Derby: It’s All-American Juiced-Up Fun

The annual MLB All-Star festivities get underway Monday with that beloved summertime favorite, the Home Run Derby.  Eight juiced-up combatants, four from each league, will compete to see who can hit the most juiced-up balls over the Busch Stadium fence, and in the process ruin their swings for the rest of the season.
