Fun With ESPN’s Trade Machine: Melo’ Edition!
ESPN produces a lot of crap. Some awful things are shoved down our throats by this all encompassing sports giant, be it online content, radio, or TV. Not everything the WWL spits out is bad though. Simmons is good, Chad Ford’s draft stuff is awesome, and their fantasy stuff is the best I’ve seen by far. All of that pales in comparison to the holy grail of time wasters- ESPN.com’s NBA Trade Machine. The Denver Nuggets can’t possibly be so dumb as to assume they will turn out any better than the Raptors or Cavs if they do not trade [...]
Hitting the Links: Chest Bumps, More Chest Bumps, Ladainian Tomlinson, Tom Cable, Spencer Hawes & Paul Westphal
The other day I unloaded on Sacramento Kings head coach Paul Westphal for his clueless coaching style and inane response to a little benign commentary from promising center Spencer Hawes. In the above video, Westphal hilariously low-fives Hawes and even gives him a chest bump. Classic! Speaking of chest bumps, check out Herm Edwards admiring the protuberances on the chest of ESPN hottie Sage Steele Shawn Kemp’s Kids Ladainian Tomlinson is no longer a member of the San Diego Chargers. In his farewell press conference LT shed a few tears, but I have no doubt that he’ll be looking [...]
Welcome to a brand new monthly feature here at Pacman Jonesin’ called Snap Takes & Sinister Spin. The feature was inspired by a tweet from the Twitter account of the bronzed and stylish @RicBucher. While we do like to kid Ric (screw the K at the end, who needs it), his NBA commentary, sideline reports and insights are really topnotch. Snap Take I: Mike Brown coaches the best basketball player on the planet and doesn’t have a clue how to use him! Snap Take II: How many times is Brown going to continue to instuct LeBron to go 1 on 5 or run [...]
The PC Police Are Out In Force These Days
Bob Griese’s attempt at humor over the weekend was certainly inappropriate and ill advised. Was it a racist comment though? Did he deserve to be suspended for a week? Absolutely not. It’s just another example of the PC Police being completely out of control in this country. Griese apologized for the unfortunate remark. Let’s just turn the page, shall we? How out of control has it gotten? Well, within the past few days we’ve had the Griese incident, the hens from “The View” harping on Barack Obama for playing pick-up basketball with his Boys Club and Kansas City running back Larry Johnson’s impending suspension for using the word faggots. [...]
Steve Phillips To Enter Chubby Chaser Anonymous
Faux Twitter Tweet of the Day My choice of road beef was an embarrassment to ESPN and I will seek treatment for an addiction to plus sized production assistants. Steve Phillips October 26th Less than a week after acknowledging a relationship with a 22-year old production assistant, Steve Phillips has been fired. Last night, ESPN network spokesman Josh Krulewitz released the following statement about the termination: “Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN. His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.” Was Phillips fired for [...]
Hitting the Links: Jeff Reed, ESPN Columnists & More
A six pack of solid links as we head into the weekend… Only Matthew McConaughey is shirtless more often than Jeff Reed and both of them really like to party Rum Bunter Could Phil Jackson, John Wooden and the ghost of Red Auerbach lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to 35 victories? Steve Phillips, Ben Roethlisberger & Road Beef
Faux Twitter Tweet Of The Day Big Ben is a very lucky man. I can only hope to have such a high caliber of road beef one day. Steve Phillips October 23rd Much to the chagrin and embarrassment of Steve Phillips, his scorned road beef jilted lover tubby temptress remained a top story again yesterday. Although these scandals almost always blow over, I have a sneaking suspicion this one will have legs. It would really shock me to see Phillips become a GM or appear regularly on television again. At this point I have little doubt that his leave of absence from ESPN will be a permanent [...]
